How to Involve Kids in Helping Disaster Victims When kids learn about a disaster, their first response is usually to want to help. That's laudable. We can't just raise awareness without giving them opportunities to help. There's no point in teaching empathy if we don't provide ways to express it. Kids can help with many relief efforts and it's never too early to start teaching volunteerism. Be sure to have kids log volunteer experience for school required community service credit hours.
